iPhone Dockable Sound
Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 7:45PM
So I had an iPod and recently upgraded to an iPhone. I had purchased a few "dockable" portable stereo systems that worked with the iPod: one for the office, and one for the bedroom. The bedroom stereo is pictured at the right. Unfortunately, these devices don't work well with the iPhone because the iPhone emits the "gsm buzz" and it is very noticeable on these stereos. I have looked around, and I have not been able to find a suitable docking stereo for the iPhone. I suppose I just have to wait. Apparently, there is one solution coming from http://www.jibeaudio.com/, but I have looked at the product and it won't fit in the small space in which I have the bedroom stereo.

Lazy Saturday
Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 8:42PM
Nothing much to write about today. It's a lazy Saturday for me because I am still getting over a nasty cold (my whole family has been sick, and so have many people at work). Yesterday I did a full restore of the computer, and it seems to be working well. I had been seeing errors more often than I should on a relatively new, powerful computer with Windows Vista. I was unhappy. So I completely restored the computer, which wasn't that much of a problem because it is still somewhat new. My only concern was whether all the contacts that I had put on my iPhone from Outlook (and since changed and added photos) would survive. Well, they did, so I was relieved. The photograph accompanying this post was taken in Santa Fe, New Mexico in March, 2001. I put the camera in the middle of the road and pushed the button. That's it. It's one of my favorite photos.

Don't Use Cup Holders While Driving
Friday, January 4, 2008 at 7:58PM
Seriously. That's what the manual for the 2005 Nissan Maxima says. "The cup holder should not be used while driving so full attention may be given to vehicle operation." Additionally, the sunglass holder "should not be used while driving so full attention may be given to vehicle operation." I suppose if you are driving and you are suddenly faced with sunglare, it is safer to just deal with it than to reach up and take your sunglasses out of the holder. At least they don't warn against using the sun visors while driving. This is what gives lawyers a bad name, because you know the attorneys at Nissan were behind this.
